Gucci is one of the UAE’s leading luxury fashion brands. The wealthy, who look for unimaginable quality and fine Italian craftsmanship, are ardent fans of Gucci couture designs and its highly desirable collections such as leather goods. From handbags to shoes, to silks, timepieces and fine jewellery, Gucci really is a wonderland of high-fashion. 

On the 8th of December 2014, Filmatography were fortunate enough to be graced by Gucci’s fine displays, gaining the incredible opportunity to exclusively cover their event in the Mall of Emirates.

The event illuminated tones of Gucci’s Equestrian theme, dating back to the 1930s when many of Gucci’s clients were horse-riding aristocrats. This particular line was released in 2012 and then went on to feature as part of the Cruise 2013 Collection. The collection embodied a ready-to-wear array featuring 15 styles, some of which can be seen in the images captured by Filmatography at the Mall of Emirates event. A multitude of the infamous items were displayed, including Gucci’s own patterned riding saddle, complete with symbols of the collection. 

The collection is characterised by several recognisable emblems. The Gucci Crest, the horse bit and the green-red-green web stripe, some of which were encapsulated in the imagery below. The widespread use of esoteric symbols in high-fashion serve a purpose. These designs are intended for, or likely to be understood by, a small number of people with a specialised knowledge or interest. Gucci is intended for a wealthy, fashion-conscious, highly appreciative audience. 

The Gucci Stirrup leather top handle bags owned the stage. Inspired by an iconic 1975 model, the exhibition of structurally-impressive soft and hard designs highlighted the seamless blend of trademark equestrian detailing with world-class craftsmanship. These bags are an instant wardrobe staple in the high-fashion world.

The androgynous assortment of garments radiates personalities of power and confidence, as well as a demeanour of professionalism - very much emulated in the equestrian world. Combining a nude palette with a careful selection of technical materials, Gucci’s collection symbolises a comfortable elegance. 

 With the help of a greatly resplendent space, the clothing was beautifully and successfully captured by the photographers, who shot with an aim to convey the air of royalty behind the brand.
