Far from the fast-paced city centres, haciendas have always had an iconic place in Spanish culture for providing a relaxing refuge from busy life. Deep in the countryside, forty minutes from Seville, Hacienda De San Rafael is no exception. Built 300 years ago initially as an olive estate, the location has 5 acres of stunning grounds, adorning beautiful vistas across surrounding areas, anchored by palm trees gently swaying in the wind.
Alex and Byrn chose Peter Rear, our signature photographer, for this destination wedding. With around one hundred guests travelling from the U.K. it was truly an intimate occasion.
Hidden inside the main house of the estate, a little hideaway courtyard provided the ceremony location lined with brilliant pink flowers and lush greenery. Surrounding rooftops of historical terracotta slate, hand-built arches and blanched walls set a truly iconic backdrop. Hearing only the chirping of birds and trickling water from the central fountain, a gentle breeze broke the heat of the afternoon sun making for a truly magical setting. There is something very special about an open-air wedding and by the time guests began to arrive in the early evening the courtyard was bathed in a glow of sunlight.
After the ceremony, group pictures were taken towards the rear of the Hacienda's property where fields and groves gleamed in the sun's light. The couple then ventured into the hacienda's mesmerising sunflower field that stretches on for miles and miles. With the evening sun now setting, a gorgeous gold luminance flooded the backdrop to create a breathtaking stage for pictures.
Alex, the gorgeous bride, was dressed in a beautiful dress by one of the world's leading designers, Nicole Spose. Mori Lee, provided equally stylish bridesmaid dresses.
For the afternoon reception the guests relaxed around the pool area for refreshing drinks and canapés before moving to another hidden location on the far side of the estate for the dinner and dancing.
The blissful day came to close with a glorious evening filled with the sounds of laughter and celebration, resonating through the olive groves.
